NBYT is pleased to annouce its second season of productions for Fall 2011 through Summer 2012. Specific audition details will be announced prior to each set of audition dates.

Anything is possible this season at New Britain Youth Theater! From a flight to the North Pole to a Fairy Godmother’s magic to the dust speck world of Whoville!

I'm Getting Nothin' for Christmas

Three children get themselves on Santa’s naughty list, and it takes sneaking to the North Pole and the help of every good elf there to set things right and uncover a mischievous plot. Written by local playwright Denise Clapsaddle (A Children’s Christmas Carol) this world premiere of a holiday play will include familiar Christmas songs!

Cinderella

Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
Music by Richard Rodgers

The world’s most magical fairy tale is set to the charming music of Rodgers & Hammerstein to capture warmth, hilarity, and the hearts of children and adults alike when Cinderella’s slipper fits. This “Getting to Know” title from the Rodgers & Hammerstein Library is adapted specifically for young performers.

Seussical

Book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty
Music by Stephen Flaherty
Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens
Co-Conceived by Eric Idle
Based on the works of Dr. Seuss

Favorite books and characters from Dr. Seuss come to life in this musical fantasy about Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, the Whos of Whoville, and more! This “Broadway Junior” version is designed specifically for children to perform.

Program Details to Be Announced

NBYT Teen Company

The NBYT Teen Company will also produce a play, to be announced, during the 2011-12 season. The Teen Company is a program in which teens can become involved in choosing, producing and promoting their own theater. For more information, contact info@nbyt.org.

We hope that you’re as excited as we are about the upcoming season! We look forward to having past participants return and having new children, teens and families involved too!
