Greens, Greens, and Nothing but Greens (and Some Browns Too)

June 6, 2014

Into the Woods set designGreens, greens and nothing but greens:
Parsley, peppers, cabbages and celery,
Asparagus and watercress and
Fiddleferns and lettuce!

Prologue, Into the Woods

We’re getting excited for our summer musical production of Into the Woods Jr (there are only a couple of spots left in the program!) and as we’ve done before, we’re planning some art projects for the cast to help make the set.

This year, we’re going to ask the cast’s help to make leaves. Hundreds of leaves. Maybe even thousands of leaves!

We’re also asking for donations of greens. Not vegetables of course, but green paper or fabric. Any scrap or recycled pieces would be great. They can have some other color in them, maybe even some writing—but they should be predominantly green. The result will be a folk art patchwork of green trees that the cast will have helped to create.

In addition to greens, we’re also collecting recycled brown paper bags. Strips of the bags will become the bark of our trees.

Cast members who have green paper or fabric or brown paper bags to donate can bring them to auditions or rehearsals. Anyone else wishing to donate some can contact us by email or phone.

Into the Woods Jr will be performed at Raymond Hill School, located at 345 Linwood Street in New Britain. Performances are Friday, July 25 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, July 26 at 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, July 27 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $13 for adults and $11 for children, students, and seniors. Tickets will soon be available for purchase.
