Matilda logoUPDATE: The deadline for payment and permission slips is extended to May 31!

NBYT is planning a group trip for NBYT actors and actresses to see the Broadway musical Matilda in New York City on Saturday, August 27! Parents are welcome to join, or children may be chaperoned by NBYT staff and other parent volunteers. Matilda will be closing on Broadway on January 1, so this is a great chance to see it before it does!

Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book of the same name, Matilda follows Matilda Wormwood, a bright little girl who immerses herself in books. Matilda is discarded and belittled by her dimwitted parents—her father insists on calling her a boy and harps on her “stupidity” for preferring reading to watching the telly—and her hostile headmistress, the outrageous and wicked Miss Trunchbull. Reclusive, but with an ever-growing imagination and sharp mind, and with a caring protector in her teacher Miss Honey, Matilda dreams of a better life, daring to take a stand against unjust forces and to grasp her destiny in her own, tiny hands.

Our NBYT group will be attending the Saturday matinee performance at 2:00 pm. There are only 55 places at the price of $120 each which includes a balcony ticket to the performance and bus transportation. Tickets will be reserved on a first paid, first served basis, and all payments and permission slips are due by Wednesday, May 25.
