Say “Yes and…” to Improv This Summer!

May 12, 2016

Improv logoThis summer NBYT will offer its beginner improv class in an “intensive” four-week class—that’ll be eight hours of improv over four class meetings in July!

The class is open to ages 10 to 16 and is for anyone with no improv experience or those who’d like to brush up their basic improv skills.

Participants will get a basic understanding of improvisational theater concepts such as story building, environmental awareness, saying “yes,” and making and accepting dramatic offers. The group will be introduced to short-form improv games designed to build teamwork and reinforce basic concepts. No prior experience in theater or improv is necessary, and participants will be able to take what they learn and use it to not only become better actors, but also better listeners and speakers. A short performance will be held at the end of the final class.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays, July 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. All classes meet at NBYT at the New Britain-Berlin YMCA. The cost is $100 for the full four weeks.
